The Prestwick Project

La Jolla Shores, Ca

There is a version of modern design that feels cold and untouchable. This is not that. This La Jolla Shores project was built around the idea that a home can be clean and contemporary while still feeling genuinely warm, and every material and finish decision was made with that balance in mind.

Natural white oak cabinetry runs throughout the entire home, from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the built-in hallway storage, creating a thread of warmth that ties every space together. The kitchen is expansive and unfussy, with a large quartzite island, a wood look vertical tile backsplash, a professional range, and open glass upper cabinets that keep the scale of the room from ever feeling heavy. Black hardware and lantern-style pendants add just enough contrast without disrupting the softness of the overall palette.

The primary bathroom is a standout. A dramatic black-framed picture window frames the canyon views behind a freestanding soaking tub in a way that makes the outdoors feel like part of the design. Warm wood vanities, brushed brass fixtures, and a beautifully tiled walk-in shower complete a space that genuinely earns the word spa.

The staircase, the hallway built-ins, the secondary bathrooms — everything carries the same level of care. That consistency is what separates a well-designed home from a great one.
