The Murray Project
Fletcher Hills, Ca
This project is a perfect example of what thoughtful design can do for an older home. Built in the 1950s, this Fletcher Hills residence had good bones and a lot of potential. We came in and completely transformed the kitchen and primary bathroom into spaces that feel brand new while still honoring the warmth and character of the neighborhood.
The kitchen went from small and dated to genuinely stunning. Two-tone cabinetry with white uppers and natural wood lowers, a custom wood range hood, brass and gold fixtures throughout, and a quartzite slab waterfall island give the space a high-end feel. The subtle white tile backsplash keeps everything bright while the warm wood tones and brushed brass hardware prevent it from ever feeling cold or sterile. A built-in wine fridge and generous storage throughout make it as practical as it is beautiful.
The primary bathroom is where this project really surprises people. Floor to ceiling natural wood slat wall tile paneling wraps the entire space and creates an incredibly warm, spa-like atmosphere. A freestanding soaking tub, marble vanity surfaces, brushed brass fixtures, and a rattan pendant light complete the transformation. It feels like a luxury hotel bathroom tucked inside a 1950s Fletcher Hills home, which was exactly the goal.
