The Galveston Project

Bar Park, San Diego Ca

This ADU addition in Bay Park, San Diego is proof that thoughtful design has no square footage minimum. Designed by Vance Design, this compact yet fully realized space was built and styled to live large, with every detail chosen to maximize impact and create a home that feels curated, cohesive, and undeniably chic.

The living area centers around a striking black mosaic tile fireplace that anchors the room with bold contrast against the all-white palette. Herringbone hardwood floors run throughout, adding warmth and a subtle graphic pattern that elevates the entire space. A cloud-style white sofa, round drum coffee table, and a Moroccan-inspired area rug layer texture and comfort while keeping the footprint open and airy. Rattan pendant lighting and a woven chandelier bring organic warmth overhead while a pair of large-scale black and natural fiber abstract art pieces tie the palette together with intention.

The staircase is a standout moment on its own, featuring bold black and white geometric patterned tile risers with natural wood treads and a sleek black iron handrail. A warm wood arched built-in cabinet, floating shelves in the kitchen area demonstrate that even the most functional elements can be beautifully designed. An arched mirror, dried pampas grass, and carefully considered styling moments throughout give the space a finished, editorial quality rarely seen in accessory dwelling units.

This Bay Park ADU is a testament to what intentional design can accomplish, delivering a complete living experience that is stylish, functional, and fully move-in ready.
